How Yard Wise Pro makes money, stated plainly and in compliance with the FTC’s endorsement guidelines.

Yard Wise Pro is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Some links on this site are affiliate links, and we may receive a commission if you make a purchase after clicking one — at no additional cost to you.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a tracked link to a retailer. When you click one and go on to buy something, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale as a referral fee. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be if you had reached that product page any other way. You are never charged extra, and you never pay us directly.

This is how the site is funded. There is no subscription, no paywall, no newsletter list being sold, and no display advertising network deciding what appears next to our content.

Programs we participate in

  • Amazon Associates — our primary program, and the source of the majority of outbound product links on this site.
  • Other retailer and network programs — we may join additional affiliate networks where a retailer carries equipment Amazon does not. Any link from such a program is disclosed on exactly the same terms as those above.

How commission affects our recommendations

It does not. This is the part worth being specific about, because the incentive to bend is obvious.

  • Commission rate plays no part in which machine wins a verdict, in what order picks are listed, or in whether a product is covered at all.
  • No manufacturer, brand or retailer can pay for coverage, placement, a rating or a favourable conclusion. We do not sell any of those, at any price.
  • We publish “skip it if” statements and negative conclusions on products that carry affiliate links. If a machine is wrong for a job, we say so even though saying so costs us commission.
  • Our maintenance and repair content is written to help you keep the machine you already own working. That advice frequently means you do not need to buy anything, and we publish it anyway.
  • We do not receive free products in exchange for coverage, because we do not perform hands-on testing at all — see our Disclaimer.

How we mark affiliate links

A disclosure appears above the first affiliate link on any page that contains one, before you reach it — not buried at the bottom. Outbound product buttons are labelled with the retailer they lead to. Affiliate links carry the appropriate link attributes required by search engines and advertising programs.

FTC compliance

This disclosure is provided in accordance with the United States Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR Part 255, “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising”. The FTC requires that any material connection between a publisher and a seller be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. Our material connection is the affiliate commission described on this page, and it applies across the site.

Pricing and availability

Prices and availability shown on retailer sites are set by those retailers and change constantly. Any price mentioned on this site is indicative only and was accurate at the time of writing. The retailer’s own product page at the moment of purchase is the authoritative source, and all purchases, payments, shipping, returns and warranty claims are handled by that retailer, not by us.
